Would “Winne-the-Pooh” be considered a classic?
I have to read a classic novel for my English class by Monday, and I want to read “Winnie-the-Pooh” by A.A. Milne. Would it be considered a classic? Thanks
Yes, the original Pooh books by A.A. Milne are classics. I read them to my children when they were little, and we all loved every word of them. The Disney adaptations are not classics, of course. They are poor imitations of the real thing.
Even the Milne books may not satisfy your teacher. He/she may be thinking more along the lines of Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, or A Tale of Two Cities, all adult novels. If the teacher objects, respectfully remind him or her that the Pooh Series was written for adults to read to children, not for children to read on their own.
@silk: It would be difficult to read a book by Tom Sawyer; he never wrote one. Tom Sawyer is a character invented by Mark Twain.
